Specialised websites and databases can help to focus your research by looking at particular groups of resources instead of the entire web. They also limit your search by topic, media type or website format.
Some useful Australian sites are:
- State Library of Victoria – access the online catalogue of over a million images, manuscripts, databases, books and more
- Trove - database from the National Library of Australia searching pictures, newspapers, journals, maps, music and more from all state library collections
- Australian Dictionary of Biography – database of Australian biographical information
- National film & sound archive – database of Australian sounds, interviews and oral histories
- Australian Screen – over 1500 video clips from Australian movies
- Public Record Office of Victoria – online archive of government documents dating back to 1836.
