Diary of Jong Ah Siug
The diary of Jong Ah Siug leaves us with a unique, and puzzling account of life on the goldfields from the perspective of a Chinese miner. The barriers to communication and acceptance made things very difficult for him. He did the only thing he could in trying to learn as much English as he could as he documented his life in Australia.
Jong, Ah Siug, 1869. Diary.
