Arrival of Supplies

Maria Heller and her followers were not prepared for farming life in Victoria. The commune was unable to produce enough food to sustain itself, many were suffering from scurvy, and 8 members, including a child died from starvation. When news of the situation reached Melbourne, the Government sent provisions to relieve their hardship.
