Souvenir

Most war postcards treated the subject with either sentimentality or humour and bravado.  Here a laughing Australian soldier and his Scottish comrade have knocked down an indignant German and helped themselves to his characteristic spiked helmet (pickelhaube).  These helmets were very popular souvenirs amongst the Australian and British troops.
