Map showing the pastoral holdings of the Port Phillip district 1835-51, now Victoria

Alfred Stephen Kenyon (1867-1943) was an energetic and interested man, who became a respected authority in many fields, including engineering, ethnology, agriculture and history.   During his tenure as president of the Victorian Historical Society, Kenyon created this map which documents the locations of hundreds of pastoral stations that operated within the Port Phillip District of New South Wales.  The inset portion of this map shows John Dawson's 'Kangatong' run, and the Henty's 'Merino Downs' - a station occupied by the first European settlers in what is now known as the state of Victoria.
