Badge: Volunteered for Active Service. Medically Unfit

Worn by Guy Marten Berry. He had volunteered twice for active service and been rejected. These badges were issued to medically unfit volunteers to prevent them from being handed white feathers, a sign of cowardice, by women in the streets. Guy Berry was accepted for military service in late 1916, and killed in 1917.
